365388 2005-06-20 12:58:00 I remember going to the Plaza Theatre from Wanganui East and watching movies. Never did I kill a Red American Indian yet.

I have not yet killed anyone else either.

Visits to the movies in Wanganui was circa 1955.

Tried Doom3 but got some sort of vertigo looking at the screen.

I never liked Doom 3, knowing when the enemies would pop out was VERY predictable.

7 out of 9 idiots dead, not bad.

They should have used bombs as well, could have had a 100% success rate.

365391 2005-06-20 20:31:00 A ban on under 18's should be in order. Hells bells, there should be a total ban on such violent rubbish!Dangerous thoughts there...Politicians should never be given they power to control what we see. They are after all politicians, or in otherwords, people who are attracted to having control over others. :groan: They therefore should never be trusted with such power, they will inevitably abuse it. :2cents: personthingy (1670)

Real Life Death Match "Not as Fun" as Teens Hoped

Buffalo Grove, IL - Seven teens were killed and two injured during a real-life "death match" they engaged in a suburban Chicago home.

The teens got the idea for the real-life death match after countless hours playing online death matches against one another. "Crazee-Rod always had such high ping times that it slowed everybody else down, so T-Banger said we should just do it for real at his house," said survivor Kevin Wilkins.

:horrified :dogeye: :D
Its not the games its the idiots who think stuff like this. Cleans out the gene pool doesn't it.
Normal people enjoy a game without trying to make it real life.
Or shall we ban 90% of the movies Hollywood releases too cause some fool might get an idea from it?

365393 2005-06-21 10:41:00 I personally dont see why ppl get so upset by pixels on a screen.
Its just a game and if you dont like it dont play it.

If we are only thinking of ourselves, this is true.
However, research has shown that violence on screen creates problems in society. Some people can view violence and continue to be decent members of the community and good for their families. But others can become unstable and latent tendencies towards violence, etc., can be unleashed. Remember Columbine High School?

365395 2005-06-21 22:22:00 'Cop killer' video game targeted by U.S. senator
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - A new video game which lets players join crime gangs and kill police officers has become the target of a proposed boycott by a U.S. Senator. ... "The last thing we need here in New York is to reinforce a destructive culture of violence and disrespect for the law. Little Johnny should be learning how to read, not how to kill cops," Schumer said in separate comments. His statements echo persistent and so far unsuccessful calls from groups of lawmakers, who charge that violent video games promote similar behavior in children. Violent titles are a lightning rod for the video game industry, whose $10 billion in annual U.S. sales rival Hollywood's movie box office receipts. As a national debate rages over whether the industry should be left to regulate itself, lawmakers from several states want to make sales of violent video games to minors illegal -- efforts courts have rebuffed saying that the games are protected by laws that apply to creative expression. Absolutely (revoke breeding licence) !

Unfortunately, there are parents who allow (maybe 'buy', at least 'let them have and play') their children to play violent games, R18 or whatever. I know of a few, and they are otherwise seemingly intelligent caring parents and good citizens.
