| 1425107 | 2016-08-28 08:35:00 | Hi all I bought a laptop used and installed Windows 10 x64, added more RAM and a SSD . Everything works except the audio . Audio works on the speakers but when I need the audio on the headset (earphones) I have to go to audio settings and change the default device and likewise if I am using the headset and want to use the laptop's speakers . Any work around? This laptop is not supported by Lenovo on Windows 10 so there are no software downloads by the manufacturer . Thinkpad T420 . Cheers |

ThinkPad-T-Series-laptops/ThinkPad-T420-Drivers and Software|Drivers (support.lenovo.com and Software|Drivers and Software&beta=false) You'll need to select Audio from the pick a component Drop down box on the left. |

Then re-plug it in when you want the headset That's what I do with my hdmi to the tv - I have the hdmi set as default, and just pull it out from the comp when I want the comp speakers for the audio |

| 1425110 | 2016-08-29 00:56:00 | WT - that did the trick. Just installed normally, no compatibility mode. Bevy - that didn't work. If the headset is set to default. When the headset is pulled from the laptop, there is just no sound. Go into the audio properties and the headset has the green bars going up and down. If I replug the heaset in, the headset gets sound. The laptop never gets sound unless you switch the default device every time. |
