1423308 2016-07-19 05:09:00 I need to enter my security code for my Camry radio. The default last three digits of the VIN don't work, and I recall I may have reset the code at some stage. Without putting the new code in a safe place, of course.

Toyota are now telling me it'll cost $75 (+ GST) to have it reset by their "experts". Can anyone suggest a less costly option to have the code reset (Auckland area)? Buying a replacement car is not an option :lol:

1423312 2016-07-19 10:39:00 try 6666. I believe radios in cars ex Japan are all the same code. try it. It will either work or not. My Volvo with Jap radio is, and Honda before was it. Colin (1006)
1423313 2016-07-21 08:31:00 Thanks guys, I've tried all the suggested fixes above /\

No joy with any, as there is still the elusive 6 digit code that I don't have, and still don't :(

Thanks for trying for me.

:)

1423314 2016-07-21 13:43:00 I doubt if Toyota would be charging $75 for something that would take them 5 minutes to do, all it takes is for them to look up their customer list and/or VIN number/rego on their computer and input the code for you (or give it to you, after you prove you are the owner of the car/radio by turning up in person with it, wont usually tell you over the phone ).
What the quote was probably for, if you have repeatedly put the wrong code in, the radio security chip will lock you out.
They would need to remove the radio, and/or send it away possibly to get the lockout disabled.

Might be better to get your stereo upgraded, to something more modern with some DOOF DOOF :punk

I don't think you could have changed the code yourself, not usually possible.

Hi ... you were on the right track. One of the fixes I tried was to repeatedly (9 times) enter an incorrect code. This in itself was not a problem as I didn't know the correct code otherwise I wouldn't have been here asking anyway  The 9 incorrect codes then resulted as forecast, with an error message of "HELP". At that point I was to enter a (supplied) six digit code and voila! The radio would then revert from "HELP", to its previous state of causing whatever crap was being broadcast at the time on the selected station.

But it was not be, and so back to the status quo.

I was hoping at the start to get the appropriate 6 digit master code to achieve a $75-less fix, but no such joy.

Thanks for trying.

:D

1423316 2016-07-22 09:10:00 Not sure if this works in NZ Wal but in Aus the RACQ, equivalent to our AA, will fix it for you. B.M. (505)
1423317 2016-07-23 00:58:00 I took my Camry into Toyota in Hamilton and the man came out, had a look at something and gave me the number. tut (12033)
