1422953 2016-07-12 02:01:00 When looking for a wife, one of my main requirements was that she be a good cook as I do not like cooking. I only cook under sufferance. My wife knows that - she also knows that I am no good as a cook - and so is happy to do the cooking as long as I help in other ways around the house. It is a good arrangement that has worked well over the past forty years.

What about you? Did you look for a good cook as well, or are you happy to do the cooking?

But are you still looking? And if so, is being a good cook - in a prospective wife - one of your desirable traits?

1422960 2016-07-12 04:21:00 Be a man and learn to cook.

Most of the world's best chefs are men :)

1422961 2016-07-12 07:44:00 I married a man who could only make porridge (he was a Scotsman...). Over the years, he became a very innovative cook, doing all the cooking in his last 5 years of life (well, he was at home, and I was a full-time worker...). When he died, I had to learn to cook again, so I suppose the lesson from that is: you both need to be good cooks.

As an aside - all three blokes in my family (husband and two sons) have been major cooks in their families (not sure what that says about MY cooking!). But I firmly believe that everyone needs to be able to cook competently, with an eye on the budget and health. It is one of life's necessary competencies. :)
