1422474 2016-06-29 02:02:00 I hadn't checked for a while but I noticed this morning my VDSL download speed has gone from approx 35mbps to about 44. Not complaining, but I wonder why it has jumped? Upload speed about 7.5. Tony (4941)
1422475 2016-06-29 02:19:00 Chorus have been adjusting profiles. Think this was mostly done late last year. Generally they seem to have changed things so you get a lot more download, and slightly less upload.

For example, our line went from 30/10 to 45/8

1422476 2016-06-29 02:23:00 Chorus have been adjusting profiles. Think this was mostly done late last year. I can't swear to it but I'd be pretty sure I've checked it in the last 6 months - but maybe not. Tony (4941)
1422477 2016-06-29 02:49:00 They may still be doing it - not 100% sure. Quite a good improvement really. wratterus (105)
1422478 2016-06-29 03:10:00 Absolutely - not complaining at all. Tony (4941)
1422479 2016-06-29 05:33:00 Another thing that might be a factor is people moving to fibre if that's happening in your area.
One of the downsides to copper is crosstalk, the more broadband customers in the same cable the lower the performance gets. Luckily it's not too severe but it can be noticeable.
As people move to fibre the maximum connection speed can increase a little and also there is less congestion on the equipment with less customers on it so that helps too.

My VDSL was about 34-36 initially, jumped into the 40-45 range when they first changed the profiles, then jumped to 50ish just before I went fibre a couple months ago.
Lucky I didn't sign up for the 30/10 fibre because it would have been slower :)

1422480 2016-06-29 05:46:00 No fibre up my way - not now, not for any foreseeable future. Some people in the area can't even get ADSL. I'm one of the luckier ones who is in range for VDSL. Tony (4941)
1422481 2016-06-29 21:29:00 Chorus and other providers (who have their own equipment in cabinet's etc) have been rolling out the new VDSL annex I forget what it is and googling it didn't help but it's a new operating mode I believe 99.5 or something like that. I would log into my router to find out but I seemed to have forgotten the password to that too. Long story short before the new annex /profile was rolled out I was getting about 34-37Mbps down and about 4Mbps up after the "change" I'm consistently getting 45Mbps down and 8Mbps up. chiefnz (545)
1422482 2016-06-30 04:30:00 They finished the change in frequencies last December. It's been done and dusted since, which would have been when the speeds increased. Chilling_Silence (9)

It's been done and dusted since, which would have been when the speeds increased.Well that shows (a) how long since I last did a speed test and (b) how little the absolute speed means, as I haven't subjectively noticed any huge improvement in performance.
