1425204 2016-08-30 23:23:00 Looks like Avast is causing a delay when it starts and when it shuts down. Going to uninstall it somehow.

Have to do it in safe mode with the tool. Because it comes up with a window but the options are blank. When I tried to uninstall it

Stopped ccleaner monitoring from running on startup, this can cause a delay

There was a pci/ide entry under the performance tab in event viewer. So the chipset drivers or something may have to be updated. Or there's a prob with the hdd

Tried to disable windows search (this was causing a delay too). But it said, it would disable windows media player network sharing as well.

Hmm havent come across that before

I disbled it and the WMP network sharing service is still running

1425205 2016-08-30 23:26:00 Yeah if we were malicious types we could wreak havoc with that.
Wainui has some stuff he recommends disabling to speed up boot time mentioned in several threads, I've never worried about it so I forget the specifics but you can search other posts or hopefully He'll repeat it here.

Other things to try:
Disconnect any USB devices you don't need, especially flash drives or external drives of any kind. Sometimes Windows decides to try and boot from them for extended periods of time before giving up
Check what's running on start-up , ccleaner has a tool for that and you mentioned you have it
Try manually running windows update to make sure it's all up to date
Re-boot your PC a little more often perhaps. It could be storing up tasks to do on start-up. Just pick a time when you are not going to use it for a while if it's that slow.

If the hard drive is close to full it can seriously slow things down - but an hour to boot is extreme and I don't think that'll be it.
