2022-03-12 07:57:00 | Someone told me Gmail are making some security changes and therefore it's a PITA using gmail so he isn't. What are these changes? I haven't seen anything clear on it?

I haven't seen anything clear on it? The only thing I’ve heard is that they’re removing that app specific passwords for legacy apps soon- won’t be able to use older email apps or some services anymore. Nothing else though, besides hugging more and more for 2FA |

2022-03-13 18:42:00 | It now does the secondary authentication when you log into an unrecognised device (in my case, it sends a code to my phone which I have to put in when my PC refreshes the cashes etc and signs me out of Google) | the_bogan (9949) | |

2022-03-13 20:00:00 | This is the Email: To help keep your account secure, Google will no longer support the use of third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Google Account using only your username and password. Instead, you’ll need to sign in using Sign in with Google or other more secure technologies, like OAuth 2.0. An app or device that uses Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) to send emails using your Google Account has less secure access to your Gmail. This might be an older device, like a printer or scanner. To continue using your Google Account with this app or device: App – remove your Google Account from the app or device and sign in again using Sign in with Google Device – change your device’s settings so that you’re using more secure sign-in technology

2022-03-13 20:24:00 | Piroska, it's more like if I want to sign into a game, or youtube on a PC or phone I then need to resign into google, and that sets off the phone notification. It just brings up a screen and yays was it me and I click yes | the_bogan (9949) | |
2022-03-13 20:59:00 | So this means less utility if using google for mail on someone else's computer ie library, extremely annoying as I often did this in the past and I won't be giving Google my phone number which of course is what it is all about. | zqwerty (97) | |
