1484319 2022-02-14 18:30:00 I am trying to find out some information concerning my birth records but I don't know where to look.

I tried a search but only came up with a result of the Auckland Library which did not tell me much.

I was born in the Papakura Maternity Hospital in August 1944, although it may not have had that name in 1944.

Hopefully there might be someone who could point me in the right direction.

Your help is appreciated.:thanks

Your birth cert would have your parents details on it.

My brother recently discovered he, in fact, had a different surname than thought....oh er.

Adoption thing? Here: www.govt.nz

Certainly I have my birth certificate, but that does not give information such as time of day and any complications that there may have been. I am interested to know if there was anything unusual. My parents died in the 90s so I can't ask them.

Then no.
One of husbands sisters was born in 1950 and had some famous operation done cause of her weird condition. She tried finding more info once not long ago and came up with nothing.
At the time it was a big deal.....too old, no digital records and things get lost.

1484323 2022-02-15 04:50:00 Roscoe, I do not think you will have any hope. As piroska says, too old, no digital, and paper records will be long gone and certainly too long ago to qualify to be transposed onto digital even if they could be found. Bryan (147)
1484324 2022-02-17 03:38:00 I assume you have looked in the Herald archive (paperspast.natlib.govt.nz) around your date of birth, It won't give you much of the info you seek but it will sometimes tell you the name of the place/facility the birth happened (not always though) but it will be the historically accurate name if you weren't sure about the name Papakura Maternity Hospital.

No I did not think of that. I will have a look. Thank you for your suggestion.

Is this what you found at Auckland Libararies?

kura.aucklandlibraries.govt.nz

It may give you more clues to follow.

Yes, thank you, Jen. I was not certain what significance the date was. But it did not tell me anything. But thank you for your help.

I rechecked my birth certificate but all it says is Papakura.

Morgenmuffel and Piroska suggested that I have a look in the Herald BDM archives so I will have a look there.

Thanks for your suggestion.

1484328 2022-02-17 20:30:00 One other site that might be helpful is "Papers Past". You would need to work through it and it will probably take some time. Bryan (147)
