1481903 2021-11-09 04:42:00 Does anyone use the Westpac Get Paid Card Reader? The issue I am having is the Bluetooth connection does not showing up in the app as connected as in two green lights.
I have tried:
Reboot both phone & Card Reader
5 or 6 calls to Westpac tech support
Westpac has replaced the Card Reader
Reinstalled the app and the ver is up to date
Turn on all permissions for the app

The reader pairs with the phone, the phone is a Samsung S20 The phone shows it's paired with the reader but no green lights.

Sometimes I can get it connected and take the payment but maybe less than 2 hours later no Bluetooth connection
TIA
Wayne

1481904 2021-11-09 20:32:00 While this wont help with the Westpac you have, I had a similar problem with the ANZ Bluetooth reader A few years back.

It would connect then drop, or not connect at all, really unreliable.

Looked at the Setting to see if there was an timer to turn off the bluetooth or similar - couldn't find anything that looked suspect :waughh:

(basically these) www.androidtipster.com

In the end after about two weeks of calling their tech support, they couldn't find the problem (others having similar) so they sorted it by sending me out a Actual Mobile Eftpos Machine at the same price as the phone device would have been.

Basically the tech guys said some times the Apps and readers work 100% other times no matter what they do they play up, could be some other App on the phone or for some reason they are not 100% compatible.

1481905 2021-11-09 23:20:00 Thanks wainuitech maybe the covid app could be causing the issue as it uses Bluetooth. Looks like I need one with its own sim card, Westpac doesn't have anything so off to another supplier. WayneMiddy (14028)
1481906 2021-11-11 12:02:00 Update: Have loaded the Get Paid app onto a 6-year-old Spark ZTE R84 and it works great two green lights this morning meaning the Bluetooth and Terminal are connected. WayneMiddy (14028)

Its possible the Original Samsung is simply not compatible. Good at least you got a working device now :)

Story:
With the Very 1st ANZ reader that plugged into the Audio socket on the Phone, even though they had the correct version of compatible Android the hardware doesn't always play nice, so after a rather "Carefully worded" few phone calls getting nowhere, in the end wrote to the ANZ Reader people telling them the problem, then off the cuff comment I put at the end of the letter "
Heres an idea, I'm not the only one who will have this problem, so why don't ANZ give people a phone for free that works when clearly some of the listed ones don't !! Then in the largest font possible in bold I put "AS if that's gonna F***ken happen"

After hitting send thought - Maybe I shouldn't have put that last bit :o

Surprise, about an hour later got a phone call from a manager, he said after reading your letter in its Entirety, we have decided to give you a phone as requested. I tried not to laugh
