| 1484645 | 2022-03-03 04:10:00 | I'm not sure I understand exactly the situation, but $1800 is not much to pay if it gets the house in your name and lets you keep it. My family home was recently sold out from under me despite legal proceedings which cost a lot more than that. |

My family home was recently sold out from under me despite legal proceedings which cost a lot more than that. He charged a bit less in the end. Yes, that's the idea. But the thing is, in cases of elderly owning home, or used to own until recently, there's this nasty law that says they can take it back (asset) to fund her care, as my brother has "deprived" her of assets. But it's a step towards keeping him off the streets and it's done now. |

Where a person has been living rent-free in a trusts property but now requires care, and the trustees of the Trust decline to provide the equivalent monetary value of support, MSD may consider that the difference is deprivation. The Trusts Act 2019 has now come into effect. Some people are deciding to wind up the trust due to the new obligations for trustees and increased compliance costs. Before considering whether to wind up a family trust, it is advisable to consider how MSD may treat any loans that have been progressively forgiven, or future application of trust income, in terms of eligibility for the RCS. www.gibsonsheat.com |

| 1484650 | 2022-03-04 07:16:00 | I know! I made him a spreadsheet. I printed out mortgage over 30 years too...so he could see what he ISNT paying. Pretty awful, people on low incomes, working and paying a house now...or like another I know, he works, she works part time (health issues) and although they got $130K a while back (inheritance) and it was JUST enough then, bank said no, they didn't earn enough to get a mprtgage. Of course they still have to pay rent and that's meant to be affordable....as they get older, worse condition and the rent goes up and up... Sucks for some. Told my brother he should feel lucky really. |
