There is nothing new about electric cars, Ken. I think that you will find that there were electric cars in the "Lucas Years."

I found the following on Google:

Electric vehicles (EVs) were invented in the 1800s, but mass-produced petrol powered cars such as Henry Ford's Model T, introduced in 1908, quickly became more widely available and affordable. The electric vehicles had all but disappeared by 1935 – until the realisation that fossil fuel is a finite resource.

Ken :) :)

In the "Lucas Years", for the Lucas afflicted cars, (petrol, diesel, coal gas, producer gas or steam) there wasn't a lot of anything electric, except for smoke.
;)
What there was, was an auto electrician on almost every corner.

Took my brother down to the new WINZ building. Huge flash thing, multistory.

5 car parks, none of them handicapped.....so then you walk round one side of building, turn left and walk along the next bit.
Aha a door....up a heap of steps.
At top is a sign Kaianga Ora (Sp?) go to next door for WINZ.
We stagger down and resume, up the next lot to door.

Huge vast space with the back end with posh looking cubicles and carving art work on walls.

And at door end, 3....count them...3 chairs and counter.

So we hand in paperwork, now paying rates, insurance etc.....she confirms after a bit, yes he now doesn't get his $16 accommodation supplement.

How many million did that building and it's flash art cost? Oh and it has an underground staff parking and a covered balcony with nice new wooden outdoor furniture for their lunches...

God, just imagine!

Given what WINZ staff deal with, how dare they have new furniture to each their lunch from.

Just imagine if they all got up and left, what would beneficiaries do then?

1484686 2022-03-21 04:09:00 Most of the people who work at WINZ wouldn't have a job if they weren't working at WINZ, so it works both ways. In fact it's similar to how the whole economy works with different parties going to work to supply goods to other parties who then supply whatever they produce with money being the lubricant.

In the WINZ case however the job depends on having clients who for whatever reasons don't have jobs so the government gives them money so they can participate in the economy and simulate more sales of products and thus more demand, just have to watch out for inflation though, these days businessmen respond to an injection of money from the government not by producing more goods, instead just by putting their prices up, that's the joke.

Are you talking about the one across from Balmoral?

Jesus what a ridiculous design- drove past there the other month and saw this poor old guy struggling his way up to the door.
