You would have been one of the few. I was only a young lad in the 50s and I had never heard of Valentine's Day in those days. I can't remember when I first heard of it but it would have been sometime in the 60s but we regarded it as a Yankee thing and never thought of doing that here. It's only been a thing since my children's time when they watched a lot of Yankee TV. That was in the 80s.

I'm not certain what "The Oldest Tree in the World" has got to do with anything we are discussing, interesting as it is.:groan:

I think the girls were big into Valentines day from the 1970s from US tv programs the guys not so much. While the girls wanted romance the guys just wanted a root. If it meant buying some flowers was going to ensure success in that endeavor buy flowers you did.
