1484873 2022-03-11 03:58:00 Here we go again! Mucking about with radio and television.

A party comes into power and they merge radio and television. Then another party comes into power and they take them apart again. Next government merges them again. And so it goes on.

What is it with broadcasting that succeeding governments seem to enjoy mucking about with them? It must be rather unsettling to work for a company that the government seems hell bent in restructuring yet again. :waughh:

I think I'd much rather be working for one of the private companies. Then, at least, you would know what is happening.

1484879 2022-03-13 20:00:00 Given the decline of both TV & radio , it shouldnt be a surprise .
Both are becoming less relevant & less viewed/listened to , with the rise of streaming services .

So merging them may save money ( in theory ) and can better share resources .

1484880 2022-03-13 21:02:00 It's a tragedy and means the death of independent radio which many people in NZ listen to, although it's strange as I would have thought this would be a national policy . zqwerty (97)

Only the end for the government stations of RNZ. There are still quite a few private stations so all is not lost.:)

You do know that there is a reason it is called Red Radio?
