660042 2008-04-18 21:55:00 Yello,I've been having trouble getting my website home page to load properly. When the address is entered in a browser,a page with a short list of files appears, i.e Parent Directory & Index.html, when you click on the index file the home page opens up.
What have i done wrong and how to remedy?
I used Dreamweaver to build the site with, TIA, Whenu

660043 2008-04-18 22:00:00 You uploaded it to the wrong folder?

Your hosting provider should have instructions on how/where to upload to.

660044 2008-04-18 22:19:00 have you tried using index.html instead of Index.html

renaming the file before uploading of course, remember linux is case sensitive

660046 2008-04-18 23:47:00 I agree with pctek - you may have uploaded to the wrong folder. Usually it's www folder or perhaps another one. How did you specifically upload it? Using a stand alone FTP program, or the control panel within your host? (if it allows FTP) or perhaps published from Dreamweaver (if it allows uploads)?

Also, any limitations for uploading your web site to your host (particularly if it's free) might have an effect (e.g. might require minimum file/image sizes per upload, support for certain scripts (or versions) only, etc). These factors might not render your site properly.

Maybe validate you site's coding - e.g. for HTML - Search for a online validation site.

PS. That is what you pay your webhost to help you with. The good ones have good knowledge in that type of thing
