367850 2005-06-30 22:23:00 Several NZ city council websites have aerial views that can be zoomed in pretty close - a bit better than some of the screenshots above.

Re the privacy issues - that's what makes it so cool - go check who's topless sunbathing in their back yards :D

367852 2005-06-30 22:56:00 Meh, The robot movie must have been fake, I can garentee that once we perfect a robots functons we will start skinning them up like hot bints.Well Metla, i was telling one of my ex girlfriends how much i enjoyed single life these days, and she informed me that for $6,500 american dollaros i could purchase a "realdoll" whose full metal skelleton and attention to EVERY silicon detail defys belief! I'm not sure if she was suggesting the perfect partner for me or what!

Now all it takes is someone to make them warm, less shiny (they look like they are wearing makeup) motorised, and able to "enjoy" a good conversation, and what you suggest may become true for some......

I once heard a hillarious story on the radio of an american chap who proudly sat his "doll" at the breakfast table and considered "her" the best "girlfriend" he ever had.... :p

Did i ever mention that people are strange?

367853 2005-07-01 03:30:00 A bit of Melbourne, at the most usable zoom level.

NZ does not have much detail.
Most of NZ seems to be covered by Sat photos only, however there are a couple of areas that have aerial coverage.

It's kinda weird and random though. The places I've found so far are just NE of central Auckland (mostly covering sea, but catching the waterfront and the harbour bridge). SW of Auckland. and for some reason, the top of the south island. Here is a screenshot of the bridge (tears.kiljaeden.ath.cx)

Oh, and someone was wondering about running it under WINE. Slashdot users have reported this to work. I haven't tried it myself.

367854 2005-07-01 03:32:00 Greg's right about the council websites.
Dunedin's is demoralisingly efficient for me.

Close zoom shows me just how rusty/brown my roof looks from above instead of grey.
As for sunbathing in the backyard ...
In this weather?

(No, it's not realtime. Tree growth/shapes show it was taken some time ago)

367855 2005-07-01 06:27:00 I can see the back of my Blazer from under the carport at my home. The pix was shot b4 the new mobile home was installed next to me, and it's been there for 2 years now..so this is really old news to me now...hahahahah

I also noticed the bushes next to my fence need a little trimming...still do as a matter of fact!

Well, he'd never have to tell her to be quiet, and he'd never be labelled "WRONG"! ;)

I saw something a while back where some guy used this program and found that US Area 66 or whatever it is, that 'secret' area where aliens and stuff happen.
