2008-04-16 11:09:00 | Last couple of days been experiencing long delays when clicking on links in OE7. I get the "Website found - waiting for reply" message and then a good two minutes wait before the target does open. This happens particularly with overseas news site emails such as NY Times and the Guardian. Anyone had similar experience? Thanks :sleep | Scouse (83) | |
2008-04-16 11:11:00 | Wanna give us a link or 2?? I'll see how long it takes here I would say the same for FF. Some sites either dont want to load, it keeps waiting. The only thing at the top says about:blank. This usually happens if I click on a link like in here. Sometimes, I have to copy the link then paste it, for it to work

2008-04-17 09:44:00 | Hi Speedy. Todays version.... DSE's email newsletter has a websiute.... www.dse.co.nz I click on it in the newsletter and wait more than two minutes. If I paste the addy in to Internet Explorer - instant response. Click on the address from this posting - same - instant response. Just the link between OE and the address creating the delay.

2008-04-17 10:07:00 | Follow these steps 1) delete your temporary Internet files (IE) and cache (Firefox). Set the temporary internet files and cache to something reasonable -- 4-5 MB if cable or DSL, or 20 MB if dialup. By default, Windows uses 10% of your hard drive I think. 2) dump your System Restore points (turn off System Restore, which will dump them, then turn it back on). THEN, run your antispyware and registry checkers. 3) Check your Hosts file (C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts -- delete anything other than 127.0.0.1 localhost and other than anything for your local network that YOU have set up 4) IE -- go into Internet Options and reset to one of the "default" settings 5) Are you running any ad-blocking or javascript-blocking software? It may be the reason to the problem

2008-04-18 21:41:00 | Hi Folks. Blam6 - got as far as item 3, where there was an additional entry ":1 Local Host" but system would not allow me to save this after I deleted that item. I am the administrator and only user, but.... What would you open "hosts" with? | Scouse (83) | |
