660570 2008-04-20 05:27:00 Has anyone else experienced Zonealarm "lockups" where it seems to stop responding and consequently stops http internet access?

I've just switched back to ZoneAlarm from Comodo, because I think ZoneAlarm's easier to use.. but after a day of using it.. I'm back to having it lock up on me.

I originally switch to comodo because of problems like this months ago and had no issues with Comodo at all other than I think it's overly complex compared to ZoneAlarm. I would use a hardware firewall, but can't afford one.. some I'm stuck with free software.

So, has anyone else had issue with ZoneAlarm?

660572 2008-04-20 05:48:00 yeah could be. It's weird that it will work for a few hours and then decide to stop allowing browser and email access.. other stuff like IM software still works fine.

In any case I'm switching back to Comodo. I've heard it works better than ZoneAlarm anyway.

I just wondered if anyone else had problems with ZoneAlarm?

660573 2008-04-20 05:52:00 Its not locking up then if its just blocking net access.

It use to do that way back when I used to use Version 6 something.

It has a habit of stopping one of its services (the proxy service).

And when it stops, so do you (it stops you from browsing). Until you restart its service. One reason why I got rid of it

Make sure you get the latest version of comodo (3.0.22.349), the previous version caused blue screens

660574 2008-04-20 06:01:00 I have taken ZA off many customers PC's ever since Nod32 started picking something up in ZA as a Bug, Now it may be a false positive, not to sure.

The pop ups in Comodo should only be showing if something is New, or an attack.

When the warning pops up select what action, As long as its asking regarding a Known Application, like opening a web browser, installing a program etc Eg: Treat this application as - trusted Application ---- Web Browser/ Installer or Updater< and for that one click Yes, then click OK and it will remember the setting, if you simply click OK every time, it will reoccur
