2005-07-08 13:08:00 | hey guys? this topic mighta been mentioned before, i dont keep up with the "world chat" scetion of pressf1 that much, but i was wondering what all your opinion on the proposed bill to raise the legal purchase age of alcohol to 20? To me it seems like a lazy way for politicians to act like there actually doing something by raising the "drinking age" when there completely missing the deeper issue: new zealands drinking culture. What do you guys think?

2005-07-08 13:28:00 | I think we should continue to celebrate the drinking culture, its miles betetr then a war culture or non-drinking culture. Booze doesn't bash people up or crash cars, idiots and the feeble minded do. Bring in harsher penalties for everything, and leave the rest of us to have a quiet Doz or two.

2005-07-08 15:09:00 | Im with Metla. Harsher fines for drink-driving... While we're at it, leave the nicer modified cars alone and concentrate more on getting those who arent sober off the streets. I personally enjoy the odd quite one, and the odd not-so-quiet one. Nothing like a nice cool Corona 'n Lime.... MMmmm.......

2005-07-08 21:39:00 | Its a no-brainer: When the drinking age was lowered, the car accident rate for the young crowd shot up, along with violence. International research supports raising the drinking age. | Strommer (42) | |
2005-07-08 21:40:00 | What're the drink/driving laws like in holland Prescott? Are they tougher or softer than NZ's? | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
2005-07-08 21:51:00 | What're the drink/driving laws like in holland Prescott? Are they tougher or softer than NZ's? im not sure what the laws are here, but of course there are many signs saying dont drink and drive, who is going to be the sober driver etc... i was thinking about the d/d laws here compared to nz this afternoon in the car while we were on the motorway doing 120kmhr (legally ;)), but apparently NZ drink driving laws are the toughest compared with other countries. the driving age here is 18, i can sorta see why it is set at that age, its soo busy on the road and you need a great deal of paitence
