369545 2005-07-05 04:57:00 Last week the power adaptor to my xtra-supplied DSL modem broke. I emailed them for a new one. They said I would get the replacement this week with a courier bag to send the old one back in...

Well. I DID get the courier bag but instead of a replacement adaptor they gave me a replacement telephone. W.T.F.! :stare: :stare: :stare:

What have they been taking??? :waughh:

369546 2005-07-05 05:08:00 With an "acoustic coupler" you could get 300bps. That is what I used to get when I first used one. The more things change to more they remain the same.

Remember Telecom is a Telephone company first. :yuck:

369547 2005-07-05 05:11:00 next time you make a simple mistake like sending a package to the wrong person, i'll make sure to make a post on a public forum about how shocking your service is.

These things happen, even though it is telecom you have to accept that its a mistake that could happen to anyone... I'm starting to get sick of this telecom bashing. You wouldn't do the same thing if a beloved company (say google) made a similar mistake.

369549 2005-07-05 05:15:00 I wasn't exactly 'Telecom Bashing' as you call it, I was really just saying that the whole event is crazy and I was wondering why anyone could confuse a power adaptor and a telephone. :illogical Agent_24 (57)
369550 2005-07-05 05:41:00 Sounds like Dangerous Dave is a Telecom employee. JJJJJ (528)
369551 2005-07-05 06:11:00 If Dangerous Dave is a Telecom employee and was offended by my post, then I apologise for that. Agent_24 (57)
369552 2005-07-05 06:22:00 There's no need for conspiracy theories.

Events such as this have a technical name. They are called cockups.

Cockups happen in all organisations. If the organisation is technically advanced enough it can have monumental cockups produced with no human intervention. (The added efficiency allows them to make higher charges for their services, and reward their executives accordingly). Lesser organisations still rely on the human element.

Nah - I wouldn't bother apologising one bit.
Telecom deserve all the stick they get. But they're in it for the money, and not to make friends. And they make plenty of money without being popular.

Interesting article in the Herald today on Theresa Gattung. According to the article, she can't understand why Telecom get so much criticism and why people fail to see the good they do. Either she is very good at pulling the wool over people's eyes or Telecom really are blind. But then they are making a hell of alot of money, so I guess that's one thing you can't criticise them for!
