| 369505 | 2005-07-05 01:27:00 | The US Supreme Court has ruled that Grokster and StreamCast can be sued for copyright infringement as evidence exists that they actively encouraged infringement. It is the beginning of the end for either. The Wired article (wired.com) is here. Unfortunately, a document has been discovered on Bram Cohen's (creator of bittorrent) website saying he "creates programs to commit digital piracy". Oops. According to the above precedent, BitTorrent the company may be open to legal action. I am not so sure how it will affect the bittorrent protocol itself, as it is the best thing since ftp. |
