369500 2005-07-05 01:08:00 According to this article (www.neowin.net), it will be one of the most stable beta releases in MS history. Beta 2 will be even more "incredible" and "far more impressive than people now realise".

As an aside, there is an interesting use of advertising on that page.

369501 2005-07-05 11:49:00 Ive made a tower out of Lego blocks.

Im adding more and more to it, and it gets taller and taller.

Thing is Im not doing much to the core of it, its staying the same

Eventually my Lego tower is going to either fall and crubmle, or im going to have some major problems later in life trying to do anything with it because the core will fall over if I try too much....

...This is what I think longhorn resembles ;)

369502 2005-07-05 11:57:00 When the stucture gets unstable you can build a suporting stucture around the outside, and of course tack all sorts of usefull bells and whistles to this stucture, untill that becomes unstable as well, which is when you decide to rebuld the core, but due to the outside stucture relieing on it you can only rebild half of it and have to dodgy it together, then make the resulting mess all hang off each other.

Then package it and send it to market, Forcing users to upgade their homes in order to house it.

369503 2005-07-05 11:57:00 Ahh Lego, how I spent countless hours playing with it.
You know I might just take it out of its box and make something with it. I'm a big kid at heart :p

369504 2005-07-05 13:14:00 Well, the core is supposedly from Win2K or thereabouts, and lots of people have good things to say about it. And MS have been throwing dosh at it. The thing is, Linux, for various reasons, has not taken enough advantage of the time Longhorn was in so much strife (but Apple has!). But then again, Longhorn could suck the big 'un. vinref (6194)
