| 369480 | 2005-07-06 08:30:00 | <<and on what grounds do you think you have a right to tell others how to live?>> We all do all the time. I see some dipstick beating up on sombody I presume the right both to judge their behavour and intervene. So do you. You want your kids to go out smoking, shooting up, drinking and driving, getting laid with "unsuitables'; you will intervene. I think the pro "it's my life and I'll do what I want" lobby are thinking that the rest of us are trying to dictate every aspect of their lives and I sympathise with that but it's not the point. The fat guy with a fistfull of pies and fags causes me 'suffering' in that I simply care for him, and would be happier if he lived more healthily because I think he would be happier too. Don't confuse compassion with righteousness. (And it does) Personally I am an experienced and dedicated drinker and smoker but I don't encourage others to go down the same path. The assertion that we should not judge or attempt to influence other people's lifestyles or behaviour is naive. We do all the time. "Hey, chuck IE, use Firefox, you won't have so many problems" ...m |

It always get me goat up when people make these statements, The so called unsuitables parents are probably saying the same thing about your children. Parents seem to think that there children couldn't come up with these ideas without the help the unsuitables, they need to take a look in the mirror.. |

| 369483 | 2005-07-06 08:53:00 | The point plod isn't where the idea came from but how the parents will respond. And we will respond, that is, assume the right to correct / influence / modify / guide other peoples behaviour. We do..........m | mark c (247) | ||
| 369484 | 2005-07-06 09:00:00 | As I said, so does old age. So whats your point? OH I see now. Because it kills the person doing it and everyone around him/her, it must be good and everyone must engage in said activity. Wow, was I wrong, what, thinking that it was bad just because it poisons everyone and kills them eventually. Pffft. Great logic pal  |

| 369485 | 2005-07-06 09:19:00 | Here's a light hearted line about health freaks that I found quite humorous. The trouble with health freaks is that one day they will be surprised to find themselves in hospital dying of nothing. :waughh: |

The original title of the thread says it causes various things. SO does old age. Get over it. |
