369448 2005-07-05 07:56:00 Lets see. Give up smoking, fatty food, sweet food, salty food. Hell, food. Give up alcohol, relaxing and radiation emitting devices such as TVs, cellphones, monitors etc. Move to the country, take up jogging, vegetarianism as well. Sell the car, grow my own veges.Well, they do say anything good in life is either illegal, immoral, or fattening :p Myth (110)
369449 2005-07-05 09:37:00 What about some appropriate music?
Ted Lewis and Two Cigarettes In The dark (www.redhotjazz.com), or Paul Whiteman and a tune sponsored by Chesterfield cigarettes, While a Cigarette was Burning (www.redhotjazz.com),

and this one sponsored by Lucky Strike saying how good cigarettes are for you, I Love To Whistle (www.dismuke.org).

Enjoy your fags before heart disease gets you :)

369451 2005-07-05 10:37:00 {snip} hospitals are filled up with smoking linked illnesses {snip}
No, no and triple no! Didn't you read that thread from about a month ago? Smokers die young and accordingly don't fill up our hospitals because they don't get the degenerative diseases that non-smokers do. It's a myth! (Disclaimer : based on the law of averages, although there may be specific examples such as Jack who don't conform to the stats) :D

Puff away folks - all the more health resources for me when I need them (unless all the Junior Doc's are strapped into iron lungs by the time I require degenerative-related hospital treatment)

Keep up the healthy debate!

369454 2005-07-05 10:53:00 Um Andrew

im afraid youre wrong, when my dad was in hosp during a bad time, they had anything up to 8 of these people at a time in the same wing that i know of all ranging from 30+ to 80 odd with this same disease...... that was only in his room or rooms he had been in, who knows how many in the rest of the wing?
ask a nurse, ask a Dr, its more common than you think, i have 3 well known friends and my dad who have this disease, they are not related, and similar ages, 70+ and they know the hospital nurse's quite well round here.

How about walking over a motorway bridge during peak traffic hours when its all gridlocked?
I can gaurantee plenty of of noxious vapours and difficulty breathing, I do it as I walk to tech, I dont have a choice. Its far worse than any death stick out there

369456 2005-07-05 11:07:00 At the local on saturday night watching the rugby, so me and a mate pop out for a cigi at half time, and what do you see all the bloody non smokers following us out, maybe I'm just good company, my non smoking mates which out number the smokers in the group sure enjoy the the smoke free pubs now, but feel they are being left out of something when every one goes out, I consider myself to be a curtious smoker, never smoked in a restraurant, dont smoke in the house(for the kids), exhale away from others, wont smoke in my car if there are non smokers in it ..... plod (107)

A glass of red wine is supposed to be good for my atherosclerosis caused by 30 years of smoking, and helping to prevent another heart attack :thumbs:
