660105 2008-04-19 22:31:00 Thanks Safari - accessing it direct using the IP provided works. But why does this work and not typing bbc.co.uk ....?

It is a DNS problem
Try enter: ipconfig /flushdns in a command prompt
Start/run enter cmd to get command prompt.

660106 2008-04-19 22:49:00 Hi Safari. Tried the ipconfig command - but still can't access the site. Maybe I should take this up with Paradise/Telstraclear ...? plimtk (6718)
660107 2008-04-19 23:11:00 Hi Safari. Tried the ipconfig command - but still can't access the site. Maybe I should take this up with Paradise/Telstraclear ...?

Might be an idea.
Unusual to have the problem with only the one website.
As you are having the problem with two different computers it indicates either a router or ISP problem.

660108 2008-04-19 23:21:00 Maybe try the static IP/DNS solution from my earlier post, since you have done the ipconfig command by Safari. As a last shot things might work. Maybe let us know if you get a positive outcome, including from your ISP... kahawai chaser (3545)
660109 2008-04-30 03:04:00 Have finally resolved this issue. Problem seemed to be with Paradise/Telstraclear, who have now provided different settings for the primary / secondary DNS server on my router, which appear to work. I suggest anyone with the same problem contact their ISP for the appropriate settings to use. plimtk (6718)
660110 2008-04-30 10:03:00 I have had the same problem with two different bbc sites for the past couple of weeks, and I am also with Paradise/Telstra Clear. Again, they are the only sites that cause problems (with both FF and IE, on three different computers).

The solution proposed by Safari using 212.58.251.206 works as it did with plimtk, but the flushing dns solution doesn't work for me.

When I have got a spare two hours or so to go on hold whilst I phone the Paradise help line, I will do the same as plimtk.

Edit - hmm - that address gets me the BBC homepage, but the links from there to news.bbc.co.uk don't work - in fact none of the links on that page work...

plimtk - would you mind passing on the settings from Paradise/TelstraClear, given that we have the same problem and none of the other proposed solutions work? If you feel more comfortable doing it privately, could you pm the settings to me please?

660112 2008-04-30 11:23:00 Hi John H
Primary/Secondary DNS server settings supplied by Paradise were:203.97.78.43 / 203.97.78.44. I checked links from and within the BBC website and all seem to work OK. I couldn't wait 40mins+ to speak to someone at Paradise either, so all correspondence was via their email support, which I found to be helpful & efficient!

660113 2008-04-30 21:54:00 Thank you plimtk - that worked, and I have access back to the bbc sites.

I haven't had much success with email to Paradise/Telstra Clear, but the emails I have sent in the past have been about shifting from Paradise/Telecom (phone package) to Paradise/TelstraClear, so maybe they are different sections of the organisation.

Thanks once again. :D John.

660114 2008-06-03 00:01:00 Hi,

Could everyone please try their original DNS servers (either 203.97.33.14, 203.97.37.14 or 203.96.152.4, 203.96.152.12)?

BBC website access should now be working again.

Please let me know the URLs you're trying to access if its not working..

Cheers,
Mark Goldfinch.
