660843 2008-04-25 22:50:00 Okay it appears it was the PSU. Sorry, I had the wrong model for the Silverstone unit. It is an ST400. Looks like its going the RMA-way.

Changed over my Noisetaker II 420w model & all is well: well, with this issue, at any rate

Thanks to all who posted.

660844 2008-04-25 23:08:00 Sorry . I forgot the unit was now working fromhibernate . The issue is still there with standby . Looks like I need to switch mobos .

To be honest, the Gigabyte BIOS is total crap: if the CDROM is the first device for bootup, then it won't if no bootable CD is found in the ROM, & I'm forced to go into BIOS, then save out before it will boot to OS .

660845 2008-04-26 06:20:00 It was a faulty motherboard or processor . The motherboard was replaced but after the hardware reinstall, I got no video, again .

I swapped out my Sempron CPU from my client machine & everything works: will resume from standby with no issues . I tried the 4800+ in the client & no video from my DVI (client has a Samsung LCD display) .

To the tech-heads: could the CPU have been the issue all along? I'm not conversant enough with the inner workings of CPUs to know . Thanks .

660846 2008-04-30 06:12:00 Here's what I've tried so far:

-replaced video card
-tried another PSU
-replaced mobo
-replaced CPU

When I installed the AMD AM2 3000+ CPU from my client machine it works great. The only thing left is the RAM. Will try using different slots but can't see what difference that should make.

Anyone have similar issues out there?????? Or ANY suggestions??????

I can't be the only one. At this stage it seems there must be a conflict between the CPU architecture & possibly the chipset drivers but have used the Gigabyte default, & latest ones. Will try Nvidia generic ones. But I can't be alone.

If I don't get this sorted by the weekend I'll be taking the CPU & mobo back & upgrading to Intel. I'll never touch AMD again!

660847 2008-05-02 21:05:00 To tie this thread up. I RMA'd the mobo & CPU & upgraded to Intel E4600 & Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3 mobo. All issues with standby are gone. Thanks AMD: not. gkar (5215)
