369490 2005-07-04 23:21:00 Checking the spam at work, I noticed a lot of unwanted mail with "FMWH" or "WMDH' in the subject line or text.

Turns out that the Nigerian scam has differed slightly:

"WE ARE MEMBERS OF A SPECIAL COMMITTEE FOR BUDGET AND
PLANNING OF THE FEDERAL MINISTRY OF WORKS AND
HOUSING(FMWH). THIS COMMITTEE IS PRINCIPALLY CONCERNED
WITH CONTRACT AWARDS AND APPROVAL. WITH OUR POSITIONS,
WE HAVE SUCCESSFULLY SECURED FOR OURSELVES THE SUM OF
THIRTY ONE MILLION, FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND UNITED
STATES DOLLARS (US$31.5M). THIS AMOUNT WAS CAREFULLY
MANIPULATED BY OVER-INVOICING OF AN OLD CONTRACT.

BASED ON INFORMATION GATHERED ABOUT YOU, WE BELIEVE
YOU WOULD BE IN A POSITION TO HELP US IN TRANSFERING
THIS FUND (US$31.5M) INTO A SAFE ACCOUNT....." blah blah blah.

Might be something to look out for.

Welcome to the internet.

You really are the _first_ EVER person to identify a Nigerian scam.

Thank you for posting.

Edit: www.google.co.nz

Ok, turns out you're actually the last person to pick up on this. Way to go.

I was just pointing out the sudden appearance of references to "FMWH" or "WMDH'.

:annoyed:

:annoyed:Wow, I got one that said:

"you will recieve" instead of "you will receive"

Same old crap, no point rehashing it.
