661483 2008-04-22 23:44:00 Which out of these 3 would you recommend? Is it worth the price difference to get a more expensive one? I plan to play at resolutions of 1680x1050 (hopefully). From where i shop, there's about a $100-$200 difference between prices. 8800GT $400, 8800GTS $500, 9800GTX $600. They're also all 512MB versions.

Thanks

661484 2008-04-22 23:47:00 9800GTX
I researched this for a month or so before purchasing this card (arrives today or tomorrow)

I got this one over the 9800GX2

DeSade, would you please be able to let us know hoe it goes when you get it? :)

I'm looking at buying one, but don't want to go through the same issues as the 8800GTX had when it first came out.

661486 2008-04-22 23:59:00 I've entirely switched sides on this one in the last few days. If you go to OCZone (don't know what they're like) you can get a bit off the 9800GTX, so given that there's not that much $$$ in it, I'd fully go with the latest chips.

G92 and 9800GTX ftw

661487 2008-04-23 00:05:00 The thing i'm wanting to know is whether or not it's worth paying the $100 difference to get a card which can be matched/beaten by an 8800GTS overclocked. EviLClouD (12981)
661488 2008-04-23 00:07:00 Go to pricespy, you can get a much better deal from a lot of places there . The G92 is a better chip, I'd say it's worth it .

Would an OC GTS beat an OC 9800GTX? No . If you want more speed in the future you can OC the GTX then .

Actually the 8800GT and 8800GTS 512MB are also G92, the 9800GTX naming convention is not justified and is a marketing ploy (lol clearly works) .

The 9800GTX is probably around 20-30% ish faster than say a GT and maybe 10-15% faster than a G92GTS, all depending on the game resolutions and IQ etc .

Boils down to money, a 9800GTX is about $170 more expensive than a GT, but only $40 ish more than a G92GTS .

Also It looks like ATI may have there 4800 R770 series out as early as late next month, no real idea about performance yet, but worth keeping in mind .

I would be tempted to wait a month myself to see what happens, Nvidia may respond to ATI with some very aggressive pricing, or maybe ATI will be the way to go .

ATI are going to have to do some friggin miraculous stuff to properly get back into the gaming market.
