661391 2008-04-22 14:06:00 Today I helped a friend transfer images from his camera to his hard drive, using Vista. I tried the built-in transfer method, and found it intuitive and good. I liked the way it prmpted fo a Tag, then created a folder named with the date and the Tag. It did the job I wanted it to do. Once the files were savely on the computer my friend was back in control and could carry on himself. I then moved my new folder full of images down to a subfolder and tried to repeat the transfer operation step by step, so I could write down each step for my friend. The error message was, "No new files on Card." That was it.
I removed and reinserted the card. Same result.
I disconnected and reconnected the Card Reader. Same result.
I rebooted. Same result.

I actually prefer to move the image files directly using Explorer, but now I'm puzzled.

What do I reset so I can repeat my initial "Prompt for Tag, then create folder and copy files" operation?

I have the files safely transferred, I know there's many utilities I could install to help, but right now all I want to know is how to get past the "No new files on Card" message.

Just repeating - the files are safe and I have other ways of doing the job.

Thanks.

661392 2008-04-22 14:54:00 Can you try taking some new pics, not the old ones still on the card, and try again. supergran (108)
661393 2008-04-22 15:34:00 Not a problem to do that, and you're right, that would (I hope) reset the message, but not the answer I'm after. The message was, "No New images on Card," and my problem is that I'd like to know how to force a reset to that message.
To be more clear, I want to copy the original files a second time from the card. Once that message is displayed I can no longer "get to" the files on the card using the Transfer Wizard. There's be no problem doing the job just manually from Explorer, as the Card Reader shows up with its own Drive letter allowing normal copy operations.

I have the files on the computer now and if I actually wanted a second copy I'd make the copy from the ones on the computer, but I want to know how to repeat my original operation.
A valid answer would be, "It can't be done." if that's actually the case.

Thanks, though.

661394 2008-04-22 21:32:00 Thats because you deleted the files(photos) from the card once you completed the original transfer. There is a tick box you have to UNtick if you wish to leave the original photos on the memory card. SolMiester (139)

Thanks, that's not the case. :-)
The files are still on the card, and I can repeat all the normal manual operations.

To be more more "more clear" :-)

To be more clear, I wanted to copy the original files a second time from the card as a "How to" demonstration. Once that message is displayed I can no longer "get to" the files on the card using the Transfer Wizard. [edit](but I can still use Explorer normally to see the files on the Card.) There'd be no problem doing a copy again manually from Explorer, as the Card Reader shows up with its own Drive letter allowing normal copy operations, but I can't repeat the copy using the Wizard as I can't get past the "No New files" message.

No big deal, and the situation probably won't arise again - I just wanted to know how the Wizard could be reset so that I could repeat the demonstration to my friend. I could clear the card, snap a few random photos and start again, of course, but I don't like not knowing how to find an option which logic tells me ought to be there .

Thanks for the answer but the "Copy, don't Move" box must have been correct as the files are still on the card (not to mention the two copies he now has on his computer.) :-)
