372038 2005-07-14 07:39:00 Developers are saying that the Intel-Apple systems (www.appleinsider.com) are faster that the old dual 2GHz PowerMac G5s.

The systems sent by Apple to the developers consist of a 3.6 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor with 2 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz front-side bus, 1GB of 533MHz DDR2 Dual Channel SDRAM, and an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900.

372039 2005-07-14 10:14:00 thats sure got to be a kick in the guts for die hard macsters who said that their 64 bit systems out performed athlon 64's in every possible way bob_doe_nz (92)
372040 2005-07-14 10:19:00 Now i might just consider using a mac (after the prompting of many people)

it will be to run linux of course! :)

372041 2005-07-14 10:22:00 I'd be keen to benchmark one of those babies against an AthlonXP 64-bit system

372042 2005-07-14 10:36:00 looks good, although it hasn't been comfirmed if apple will be going with the x86 proceesor, or another one of Intels family's. Yonah was one name i heard floating around the mac forums which i believe is a x86 chip
32bit will stay in the consumer range while powermac's and xserve's will get 64bit to start with.

See you are still wrong, apple is going to choose a low clock speed chip so they can still use the MYTH..
The Myth has alway's been true at the start of each chip release, but not long after the release Intel up's the anti

It's still alive.. pentium M running at the same clock speed as a P4 is a faster machine

372046 2005-07-16 02:54:00 Kinda puts a stop to apple saying "Just because p4s have a higher clock speed, we're still faster" though ;) Edward (31)
