| 371534 | 2005-07-12 05:35:00 | It seems that Dell has closed it's Customer Support Forum (www.theregister.co.uk) after too many people posted complaints on it, citing everything from dud hardware, bad after sales servicing and awful customer service. I get those glossy newspaper inserts that show their wonderous goods at fantastic prices, but so many people kept warning me to stay away from them. |

The customer gets what they pay for and Dell are cheaper for a very good reason. |

They went bust and he eventually bought a second one from a retailer in Birkenhead, Auckland. This retailer also went belly up about 4 months later. He's getting me to build him his current one, Im just hoping that I dont follow suit with his track-record with PC-Suppliers :D |

These small pc shops would have a return rate with not much of a support policy, Face it Dell or Apple or any other big brand finds it a lot cheaper running a forum and letting owners solve problems for other owners then relying on phone support... first place of call if i have a problem is the apple forum, and most are purely operator error on my behalf.. |

And its a battle uphill trying to tell someone they need to spend an extra $100 for a quality psu, they will simply go down the road and buy the cheaper system. Most people think if it has a P4,256mb of ram and a decent size harddrive then its all good....and don't want to know abouit motherboards, quality components, psu's,cases or highly regarded brands.....and sure as hell aren't prepared to pay for it. People that go shopping for crap generally get exactly what they set out for...... |
