| 371234 | 2005-07-11 09:46:00 | Hi All, I have a bit of decision to make. I had originally planned to buy a DVD Recorder/VCR Combo to do two things. 1st elimate the need for two pieces of hardware & 2nd to burn all my home VHS Movies to DVD format. Went into a Bond & Bond Store in the weekend, and to my amazement discovered that DVD Recorder/VCR Combo's don't come with internal HDD's! So therefore if i want to record from TV it either has to go to VHS tape or DVD Rom!! Whereas with a straight fwd DVD Recorder, you can edit your TV shows before burning your final copy to disc. Is there such a device out there that is a DVD Recorder / VCR Combo with an internal HDD or does no such thing exist? Cheers Darcy. |

| 371235 | 2005-07-11 10:01:00 | Just get a tuner with video input, for 90 or so $ and a dvd burner 16x dual layer for 100-$120. Does exactly the same thing and its cheaper. If u have a VCR now, u can record from video then burn whatever movie to DVD. All you need is a big hdd to record whatever onto. Any dvd burning program will let u edit before u burn. ie: Nerovision, Ulead programs etc. |

Cheers No. As far as I know, does not exist and is unlikely to. VCR is a moribund (dead or dying) technology. Its unlikely that it will ever therefore be coupled with a top end model of replacement technology Many DVD recorders still don't have a HDD, instead just recording direct to DVD. |

Cheers I think that "Combo" machines are transitional devices to bridge the gap between tape and disc technologies, so HDDs are unlikely to be used. To be honest, I have never seen a VCR + DVD Recorder machine advertised. The only ones I have ever seen are VCR+DVD player only but I'd love to know who makes a DVD recorder version. Cheers Billy 8-{) Oops! Went upstairs to talk to Mrs T part way through writing and finished/posted on return only to find I've been gazumped by Godfather.:( |

| 371243 | 2005-07-12 07:07:00 | A friend bought one of these a while ago. He seems happy with it but it really was just a replacement for his old VCR. Maybe you could search Google to find reviews etc. I think he paid a bit over $900 for it in a special deal. Here is some information from the web site link listed below. PANASONIC DMRE75 DVD RECORDER/VHS COMBO PROGRESSIVE SCAN DVD-R AND DVD-RAM Copy Home Videos With One Button It can be heartbreaking when you play an old VHS home video and find that years of playback have degraded the image and sound quality. Preserve your precious VHS tapes by transferring them to DVD-R/RAM, which will provide durability and many years of enjoyment. With One-Touch 2-Way Transfer, you can dub a VHS tape to DVD-R/RAM by pushing a single button. www.camcor.com |
