I am running Zone Alarm would one of the others be better. I was going to upgrade to security smart when my nod32 ran out but I have the three conditions that you mention so I guess you have saved me some trouble. Thanks. Pato (2463)
661238 2008-04-22 07:01:00 Hi. I am running Zone Alarm would one of the others be better. I was going to upgrade to security smart when my nod32 ran out but I have the three conditions that you mention so I guess you have saved me some trouble. Thanks. Well I 'm yet to test if they have fixed the crashing, Chillisoft in Auckland myself and a couple of other Computer businesses in WGTN were submitting the crash logs to Eset, they did Email through a manual update to try, the first one went belly up the second ,that appeared to fix the problem, Eset advised it would be included in the updates the following day, this was about 2 months ago, so they should have.

Easy way to test it, down load the trial ESS from Eset, if its going to crash it will do it within 20 minutes, IF it does crash, unplug the internet, and remove the ESS.
Chillisoft said WGTN, but not to sure how far north that included. ( I'll test it again myself this weekend, since I have to take the whole network down to do it and load a test PC)

The Nod32 works perfectly, that with Comodo Firewall seems to be a good combination.
Hows this - The latest Nod32 and ZA WONT play nice together, Nod detects something in ZA and kills it, could be a false positive though

Thanks for the reference to those previous posts of yours. One thing, I found the Gateway which is 192.168.1.1.
You say to click on the Address button - Address range, and put in my IP range in the two boxes. How can I find out the number for the bottom box?
In your example you show 192.168.1.255.

You have me a little worried about purchasing the complete ESS program, so might download the trial version first as you have suggested and see if crashes.

661241 2008-04-22 09:45:00 I'll Answer two at once here - the address range - if you use 1 as the start and 255 as the end that will open the whole range of the router, there is a total of 255 address available from most routers, USUALLY 1 is the gateway (the router), the router can then issue out any address between 2 & 255, usually it sticks to the lower ranges, BUT you may want to have a PC/ Server set higher, for example One of my servers I have set to a static IP of192 . 168 . 1 . 250, that way if the router tries to give another PC that Address it cant as its already taken .
To find out your own current IP click start/run type in CMD, then in the box type in ipconfig as shown Here ( . imagef1 . net . nz/files/IP_Address . jpg" target="_blank">www . imagef1 . net . nz) ( blanked out my name) but this PC its set to 102, as I have remote access to this PC and need it to have the same IP every time .

As I mentioned Smithie, if its gonna crash it will usually do it within 20 minutes . usually quicker though 5-10 .

MISTY -
The kerio Firewall - can honestly say I have not used kerio for about three years, but as far as I know it works fine . If the two play together Ok with no problems no reason not to use it .

I used to use Norton Internet Security (OK I Admitted it):p  that was back in 2003 before it became bloatware, when it started playing sillies, I then used Nod32 + ZA, but Nod is now picking something up in ZA as a bug and Kills it .

661242 2008-04-22 10:13:00 This is why I like ESS (www.imagef1.net.nz) I have Itunes and the Safari Browser, Reading some mail in outlook no browsers open etc - this jumped up, Look at what it is stopping and suggests - functions and brains :) wainuitech (129)
661243 2008-04-22 10:23:00 Thanks for the info Wainuitech. I will give it a go.
My nod32 doesn't expire for some months so I have time to sort things out before deciding. Cheers.

Comodo is a firewall?. If so is it better than Zone Alarm?. It is all getting very confusing LOL.
