661226 2008-04-22 04:42:00 Hi folks

My NOD 32 antivirus program is due for renewal and I was considering upgrading to their Esset Smart Security. Is anyone using Esset Smart Security and if so would appreciate comments - is it good, bad or indifferent??

TIA
Smithie

661227 2008-04-22 04:44:00 If you want a really good firewall, and anti spam - it's worth it. Otherwise no.

The Anti Virus/Spyware side of it is no different.

661228 2008-04-22 05:08:00 Hi wratterus

I have NOD 32, Counterspy and Sunbelt Personal Firewall at the moment. If I upgraded to Smart Security, those latter two programs could be deleted then??

661229 2008-04-22 05:17:00 May as well leave counterspy, if it's playing nicely with NOD at the moment, but DEFINITELY get rid of your current firewall. If you do upgrade to SS, you'll probably see a bit of a speed increase, getting rid of that firewall. wratterus (105)
661230 2008-04-22 05:33:00 Well if I get rid of my current firewall - what do you recommend I replace it with?? and is my current firewall that bad? smithie 38 (6684)
661231 2008-04-22 05:35:00 I use Smart Security, the only problem I have found with it, and I'm not to sure if they have it fixed yet, Eset say they have, is if all of the following is true --- it used to crash the PC.

IF you ---
Live In wellington
If you have telstra Cable Broadband
If you have a single PC connected to the modem thats not running through a Router
You May have a problem - remove any one of the above and it works perfectly.

Mine runs through a Router, so it works fine :clap

661232 2008-04-22 05:35:00 Smart Security includes a firewall, I think.

If you install it, you wont need another firewall

Sorry, nothing wrong with your current firewall. Comodo would probably be better though, whatever you prefer.

I meant if you get Smart Security you will need to uninstall your current firewall, cause SS has one.

661234 2008-04-22 05:52:00 Thanks watterus - are yes I see what you meant now.

Wainuitech - I don't live in Wellie: I don't have cable broadband; and my PC runs through a router, so I hopefully it will run perfectly on my PC as it does on yours.

Thanks guys for your input. I will upgrade tomorrow.
