661103 2008-04-22 01:29:00 Hey everyone, just realized I need a mATX power supply. No mATX power supplies above 300W and none with a pci-e connecter that I can see. So I'm screwed.

My last conclusion is to get a GPU that doesn't require the PCI-E power connector.

Best I could find was a 9500GT GDDR3 which is a bit faster than a 8600GTS.

So my obvious choice right now would be an overclocked or fatality version of the 9500GT in a few weeks placing it between the 8600GTS and 8800GS.

Any new radeon cards or any better cards you guys know of that don't require the PCI-E connecter? Thanks.

661104 2008-04-22 03:27:00 Er.......why do you? Change the crappy case instead. pctek (84)
661105 2008-04-22 03:33:00 +1 for change crappy case and solve the underlying problem. Battleneter2 (9361)
661106 2008-04-22 03:33:00 My thoughts exactly. $50 will get you a proper case with an el-cheapo PSU to last you until such time. trinsic (6945)
661107 2008-04-22 04:11:00 Is this the same PC that had all the problems with warranty concerns, and parents not to keen on upgrading ? THIS THREAD (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) --- if so then the upgrading of the case I would suspect would be a BIG NO NO. wainuitech (129)

661110 2008-04-22 06:02:00 I've said it before and I'll say it again. Thank you wainuitech =]. I only asked that question in case some one didn't know the history or problems / requirements you are having with the PC, OR incase it was a different PC.

I looked at the Aspire M1610 Its got a Mini PSU ???

Seems strange as going by the case dimensions on Acers Site it should take a "normal " PSU the width any way.

What ever card you end up getting, I think It was mentioned earlier on, it will put a increased load on the current PSU and CPU so don't go to "high Spec" other wise it may cause a problem.

661111 2008-04-29 08:42:00 If you're close by, I'm offering to transfer your components to a new case. I've done so many times, at least 5 times on my own PC (cleaning every component and changing case three times). Built my own PC three times as well.

But note if I break anything (a possibility for everyone), I'm not liable!
