662282 2008-04-24 22:48:00 Hi,

I tried Auslogics speed increaser some weeks ago, found 500 odd errors, deleted them, and found a definite increase.
Now of course the 15 day trial has ended and I would have to pay $30 to get a liscence

Is it worth it?

I searched many offers from a Google- after trialing about 6 of them -some found 400 , it deleted 3 and said the rest will have to await payment etc etc

I have a regular regseeker that cleans about 400 odd, once in about 2 weeks, but a so called trial after that clean out still shows errors- are they real?

I have 3.06 ghz cpu, and Ccleaner -80 gb h/d,using XP Pro,---don't realy need any more speed , but am I deluding myself if I leave that rubbish in there?

662283 2008-04-24 22:57:00 Personally I have found that excessive cleaning of reg files, (especially from customers PC's) that they have tried all different cleaners, actually can cause more damage / slowness than "once in a while" cleaners.

I'd stick with regseeker and Ccleaner. Ccleaner I use daily at the end of every day, mainly to clean out temp files etc and do a reg " fix it upper" about once every two months or unless something really obvious happens to create a slow down.

662284 2008-04-24 23:11:00 hm...........the interesting thing I have tried is to trial some of these programs on a newly installed virtual pc........a CLEAN install.......some programs will ALWAYS 'find' errors............even on a clean install which I find very suspect....... drcspy (146)
662285 2008-04-24 23:21:00 Hi Drcspy,and Wainui tech,

That is what I thought- Wainui, do you, when you "clean up" the reg every two months, use the likes of Auslogics---I do like Auslogics free defragger- 6 minutes about every two weeks- try that using Windows defragger :( 36 minutes if you are lucky )

I do housekeeping every Friday and as I say don't need the speed now---especially having got rid of Norton's :crying

This morning I, as did Smithie 38 ( who had used Nod 32 - and now the full version of ESET -are very impressed with the load up speed anyway:clap

662286 2008-04-25 04:04:00 Nah, just use CCleaner every once in a while and defrag as you do and your system will keep running fine.

If you do install or uninstall a program, it will pay to run CCleaner right after just to clear up the mess.

662287 2008-04-25 04:51:00 Thank you Beeswax,

I will continue to do that - although before I ran the succesful Auslgic program mentioned- my pooter was dead in the water- and making damn silly errors- ran this program and was away laughing- it was so spectacular an improvemnet that made me wonder at the above.
Thanks again

Hi beeswax - how specific can you customise ccleaner to do that please ?
Have just had a look at Ccleaner and you do not appear to be able to zone in on specific programs ---- eg I have just uninstalled AVG so how do I clean up please ? Do I just run the register cleaning part ?

662289 2008-04-25 07:01:00 I use Ccleaner every night just to clean out the Temp files, and I also use its reg cleaner around every two months, and about 3 months for the Regseeker.

Misty - to use the reg cleaning side of Ccleaner open the program, on the left click on the Registry, down the bottom click Scan for issues.

WARNING: Always make a back up /restore point BEFORE running any reg program that way if it turns to custard you can put it back how it was.

Oh no, I just meant run it manually after every installation and un-installation, no matter what the program. I wonder if it could be automated using a batch file but its so easy to do it myself.

662291 2008-04-26 05:00:00 I used SilverSoft Speed, it will increase the PC speed automatically and efficiently. steven25 (13136)
