662087 2008-04-24 05:11:00 After being trouble free for 18 months, my Dell Inspiron 6400 Notebook will not connect to our wireless network. Is it possible that the wireless mini card may need to be replaced? I had used the internet on the laptop two hours before this problem occurred - and nothing was altered to cause this lack of connectivity. The PC that is the access point for our wireless network is working correctly (as I can access the Internet) and the D-Link DSL G604T modem is also working correctly. The Laptop tells me that it has found the correct wireless network but when I click onto the said network to connect - I'm told "unable to connect". Hoping someone can help........ Oldferix (5581)
662088 2008-04-24 05:19:00 What do you mean "The PC that is the access point for our wireless network"
You are connecting to the D-Link by wireless with your laptop aren't you.

Have you rebooted both the D-Link and laptop as a first measure.

662089 2008-04-24 05:37:00 Reboot everything, also delete the saved settings for that wireless network in the laptop, then try to re-connect.

That will probably fix it, if Safari's suggestions don't.

1) The modem is plugged into the PC - is that not the access point? Computer terminology is difficult to learn - please correct me.
2) Yes. - trying to....
3) No. But have just done this, as per your suggestion - and the laptop is again connecting to the Internet as it should. Thank you very much.

662091 2008-04-24 05:48:00 The modem is connected to the PC by cable and that gives the ethernet connection to the PC.
You laptop connects directly by wireless to the D-Link wireless router.

No problem, as long as you don't mind a Mac user helping out here.
