374669 2005-07-24 00:13:00 My missus works at a library and she told me yesterday a guy came in and asked for his records to be changed, coz he got his name legally changed. It was a boring John Smith type of name. He's now... [something more creative]

Just Love it!

If I had to ever have another daughter I'd call her L11 Elle for short. ;)

374671 2005-07-24 23:05:00 Some of us find that our aquired name dominates over our given or legal name...

What puzzles me is the desire to update the official records.
Surely we and our friends know who we are? Why tell the Govt etc?

374672 2005-07-24 23:35:00 Interesting that your wife breached this persons privacy by telling you, then you go further and post it on the net.

Which library does your wife work at? She could quickly find herself looking for work.

How bloody pathetic!

Don Brash . Helen Clark . Have I now breached their privacy???

It's a matter of public record when someone changes their name by deed poll . Moron!

Bollocks. Go post on some kiddies forum if that's the extent of your intelligence. Don't people know that legal name changes have to be advertised in a public gazette? Jeez imbeciles abound! :yuck:

Jeez imbeciles abound! :yuck:Hey, that wasn't necessary Greg. Whether they have to publish their names anyway, I can see the point that has been made. Whether this person would be happy to find themselves under discussion after conducting a personal name change at a Library is a different story.

I for one would be pretty hacked off to find my choice of name being discussed like this.
