373679 2005-07-20 00:31:00 Looking at replacing our Canon photocopier. The options are a Canon iR 2270 at $6406 ($7425 with a network card) or a Konica/Minolta 7222 with network $6885. Includes auto document feed. Service contract 1.5/1.65c per copy.

Decisions decisions. I'm biased towards Canon but...... Other people seem to be equally happy with either brand.

Any thoughts?

373680 2005-07-20 02:43:00 I could write pages on why I (in another life) did choose one over the other, stories of abysmal service and corporate arrogance would feature large.

But I won't.

But if you PM or email me I will do it off-line.....

373681 2005-07-20 04:29:00 We recently (a couple of months ago) aquired a Kyocera-Mita KM4030 at work .

Have had no problems with it, and the A3 scanning to email is fantastic . LDAP intergration, so I don't have to add users to the copier by hand just makes it .

I can't comment on the other two you mentioned as I havn't used them .

373682 2005-07-20 04:53:00 We have the Konica 7022 at work with the ethernet and also fax kit.

Very nice as a replacement printer / fax. Sorting and stapling is a bonus too.

Lo.

373683 2005-07-20 05:24:00 I tried to respond to the PM WInston, but got the error:

"Winston001 has exceeded their stored private messages quota and can not accept further messages until they clear some space"

Let me know when that is....

373684 2005-07-20 06:53:00 Stupid system. I thought it would know to knock off all the old messages. Should be fine now. Winston001 (3612)
373685 2005-07-20 07:00:00 I'd be interested to know what you go for in the end and why.
Cheers

373686 2005-07-20 07:01:00 I've been impressed by the Konica photocopiers I've seen so far. At least they seem to keep up with drivers (particulary with OS X for example).
The service from the Ubix (they are called something else) seemed pretty good too - they would happily go around and install the drivers for you.

373688 2005-07-21 02:18:00 Good idea Plod. At this point the nice Canon man is going to deliver a secondhand 2220 with network for us to try out.

Basically we do about 2500 copies a month. Low use given the capabilities of modern machines. Just documents mainly. Auto feed is the best thing since sliced bread.

The network ability while costing $1000 more interests me. But on the other hand what would a good quality laser printer cost now anyway? The scanner is only usable for a PC if networked. And I'll have to climb in the ceiling and make holes to install the cable. :groan:

Also we currently use an HP 6L with two drawers - one for paper and the other for envelopes. Can't do that with a laser copier - or not easily.
