373453 2005-07-19 10:53:00 I have a DVD writer that does not work. Some of you may have read my post in the other room about it.

I want it to die a horrible and painful death so I can get at least some joy out of having bought it. I want to kill it off and take a movie so I can enjoy it's death many times over.

I need some suggestions of how to kill it.

So far I have decided to get a mate to hurl it from his bike into a fence post at top speed while I record the video. (this will all take place on private land, and all remains will be properly disposed of).

Can anyone beat this?

By the way I have already used a shotgun, a .22, and fire to kill off other useless pieces of crap that stop working for me, so I don't need suggestions down these lines...

373457 2005-07-19 21:36:00 Send it to Metla.

A hammer + Metla Junior = creative destruction + fun + a mess for Mrs. Metla to clean up.

Without a parachute.

I can't believe you have given up hope already. :horrified

Making 10 consecutive coasters shows extraordinary faith and persistence, but if you have thrown in the towel, why not give it to somebody else who can't afford to buy a DVD burner, much less afford the luxury of destroying one that may very well have absolutely nothing wrong with it.

373460 2005-07-19 22:40:00 Yeah, I quite like the idea of dropping it from a height, unfortunately I can't do this on my farm, so it would be harder to control the mess. Which do you reckon would be travelling faster, from the bike, or from a bridge? My mate can do 200km/h on his bike, so I reckon this would be the most explosive impact. craig.b (6571)

If your mate can hit a fencepost with a DVD burner while travelling at 200km/h (and stay on the bike while doing so) it would be a flaming miracle.

Either way, post a link to the video, I'm picking that his crash will be better viewing than the fate of the DVD.

Sounds like fantasy land to me. :p

373462 2005-07-19 22:53:00 Especially if you can get footage of him hitting the fence post just after the DVD drive.
Is this just proof that Fonterra pays too much?
