This is in effect by a few large ISP's, including AOL to good effect. |

In other words, no one likes spam, to what extent do you go to eliminate spam? A spammer sends you an email, do you: 1. trash it? 2. hit back? Option 1 basically affirms life, we dump the junk mail and get on with life. Option 2 means we try to harm the other person to stop them sending us mail. Option 2 is excessive. Mozilla Thunderbird gives good junk mail filtering, this is a real alternative. Many web hosting companies use SpamAssassin, which is a great filtering programme which when an email is matched as spam, it either: 1. deletes it 2. marks it as spam and sends it to you If at this stage you choose to delete the message, the spam problem ends then and there. The only problem with SpamAssassin is about 2-3 spams slip through a week into my inbox, which mozilla normally detects as spam. I would suggest that a solution that discards spam before it gets to us is a more constructive solution than one that aims to get retribution. |

Returning spam doesn't do anything as far as retribution is concerned, It wont ever get back to the bot that sent it, and if it did, its a bot, wont care in the slightest . I would suggest a solution that contains an invasion of France, Might even bag us a couple of spammers while doing so, If not . . . . Then its all fun anyway, Let the rape and Pillage begin . Hmmmm . . . . . . . . . Though it maybe that rape is a little non-pc in this day and age, perhaps just a-pillaging we will go . . . . . . |
