If that is what you are all thinking, then maybe you should all leave the likes of Telecom AND Telstra... they charge one month ahead. All they do is send you the invoice AFTER they've taken the money off you. If you are referring to Telecoms phone bill (with jetstream etc on it) then no that isn't the case. We get the bill which shows the next months Jetstream etc on it. We then choose whether or not to pay it. I also have a domain and hosting. My hosting - I get an email bill just before its due. So I can pay it (or leave auto payments in place if I had them) or ring up and cancel. I don't know what the situation is exactly - I am going by the original post which said money was taken from his Visa without any contact first. |

The site has given me all the customers I can handle and I have no need for the site any more. I am just pointing out that I had no communication from the hosting company before they got into my account and removed the money. If I had wanted the site left up I simply would have left the charge on the Visa card and paid it. I may have contacted them about the way it was done though. I received no invoice and no Email prior to this. |

| 374292 | 2005-07-24 02:35:00 | Are you Stupid Techie?...or do you work for this company? From what I've gathered, I am a skilled worker working for Telecom, Vodafone, Microsoft, ... and now for Kiwi Web Host all at the same time! :p |

| 374293 | 2005-10-22 08:41:00 | So what??? They took money out of his Visa without asking first. So you'd be happy if some shop you'd dealt with just happened a year later to charge your visa X$ and send you a new whatever peice of hardware cause they assumed you'd want it? Same thing. Maybe Kiwi Host were one of the best but that just knocked a few points off their reputation in my opinion. Not on at all. Sorry to bring this thread up again but here we are again. Got my Visa card bill and up comes ISERVE again. This time for $103.44 When I first brought up this thread it would have been because ISERVE took money out of my Visa card on 26/09/2004. Today I received my Visa card account and found that ISERVE removed $103.44 from the same card on 26/09/2005. Now in 2003 I did a deal for web hosting and a domain name and used the card to pay for it. After the contract should have expired I did not pay as I did not need the deal anymore. It now appears in spite of me getting back the money last time this happend it is happening again! |

No invoice or notification is sent. I think this is the way it should be done. If I didn't want the renewals I think it is up to me to notify them. My only concern is how secure is the computer that holds my details. So far I have no complaints. Same thing applies here. Sky, Telecom, Ihug, Ascent, and god knows who else all have my card details. Also there are numerous "one off" purchases. Which companies keep your card details on file? Another irratation is the number of NZ companies (particularly computer related) that will not sell to you on CC. They expect you to go through the rigmarole of bank transfers. |

My only concern is how secure is the computer that holds my details. So far I have no complaints. I have no complaints about security. Never had a problem there. Same thing applies here. Sky, Telecom, Ihug, Ascent, and god knows who else all have my card details. Also there are numerous "one off" purchases. Which companies keep your card details on file? Well let us think that I go down to the local car yard and buy a car. I go down with cash and I happen to be $2000 short. I then use the Visa card to pay that. One year later they deliver another car which I don't need and charge me another $2000. No different to the other issue like banks when you get a mortgage for say $100,000 and you sign up for 5.00%. The OCR goes up then you might be paying 9.00% Now when you borrowed the $100,000 the bank gave the house owner the $100,000 at whatever it cost the bank at that point. Another irratation is the number of NZ companies (particularly computer related) that will not sell to you on CC. They expect you to go through the rigmarole of bank transfers. Personally I have no trouble with Internet banking. Orcon sends me a BILL every month and I pay it every month. If anyone sends me a BILL every year I can pay if I still WANT the service or goods. It is easy over the net and Orcon has never taken money out of the account at all. They don't ASSUME I wish to keep the service. This is my point!!! I authorised one payment for one service for one year. |
