662711 2008-04-26 01:29:00 What is everyone using for p2p these days? I have been using DC but cant seem to find many good NZ hubs anymore. Deluxe (13521)
662712 2008-04-26 07:27:00 I don't at all.

But a friend who tried various things likes Rapidshare best. He reckons theres more stuff and is faster than torrents.

662713 2008-04-26 07:42:00 I'm sure bittorrent is pushing the majority of p2p traffic nowadays around, so for the general public I'd defintely go with BT, using software like uTorrent (www.utorrent.com/) and public trackers like mininova (http:) and The Pirate Bay (http://thepiratebay.org/). P2P purists I'd say however still prefer binary newsgroups and other private servers, which I guess isn't really P2P but fills this need nonetheless.

DC was great when national traffic didn't contribute to bandwidth usage.

662714 2008-04-26 10:47:00 I still like Soulseek for a genuine non-torrent p2p client - it's lightweight, and doesn't come with any unexpected 'add-ons' like Limewire. nofam (9009)
662715 2008-04-26 11:41:00 I'm half half..I use Direct link downloads .A majority are sendspace links but I also use rapid share and megaupload

however I use BT too.I use utorrent

662716 2008-04-27 09:56:00 There isn't really a 'best' application or website. You just have to use whatever has what you want available. Agent_24 (57)
662717 2008-04-27 10:08:00 TorrentFreak recently published some informative stats on P2P for '07/'08 (torrentfreak.com).
A P2P Marketshare graph (stash.ableapp.com) shows the global usage percentage of each popular P2P application, Limewire with a healthy share.

662718 2008-04-27 10:41:00 hmm I use uTorrent, MiniNova to find the torrents. Personally I stay away from LimeWire, it really is filled with too much junk but I suppose if you avoid those multiple files that are all the exact same file size but difference names and have random extensions, you can probably be alright. Limewire does offer great speeds compared to the others I have used, Ares is also good, but I don't use Ares for torrents, leave that to uTorrent since it works so efficiently with them.
