| 662513 | 2008-04-25 09:13:00 | ok this laptop will be seriously outdated and ancient but i like using it as it seems to be more reliable than a more recent laptop i've used. anyway i've recently done a fresh install of wait for it... windows ME :o(ok laugh now) and it seems to lag when it plays windows sounds the mouse and any moving images etc stall for a few seconds until it eventually plays the sound. specs: (probably not worth mentioning) Pentium 2 365Mhz 96 MiB ram 18 GiB Hard drive 4meg ATI video tv out, PCMCIA wireless and wired network cards one USB etc etc all the stuff pre 21st centery laptops had ancient i know I would have put 98 or 2k on but it means finding drivers for the USB drives for 98 and its even slower with 2k |

| 662519 | 2008-04-25 13:35:00 | yes i could turn the sounds off however it isnt really fixing the problem as it reappears if embedded sounds play or you reenable the sound scheme. its certain WAV format sounds that make it lag, might remove MSN messenger etc and clean the registry out | williamF (115) | ||
| 662520 | 2008-04-29 18:35:00 | sorted. installed 98SE. solved alot of problems that ME caused just by installing 98 although the only biarch is you need drivers for anything that 98 doesnt have (which is almost everything made after or during 1998 or uncommon devices like an old parallel port compact flash reader) | williamF (115) | ||
