663196 2008-04-28 00:10:00 I have been using MSWorks for years. Love it - fast - easy to use - convenient. I have about 5 databases I use regularly and when I switch on MSWorks they pop up immediately. Entering the date I merely use Ctrl/: and there it is. Copying something in a cell above the one I am using is Ctrl/"
In each case two key strokes. Marvellous. I use the 1997 version - I have the 2001 version also but flung it off when I found it impossible to get it to open the databases I needed immediately. It felt clumsy and old fashioned and slow, compared to the old version.
My granddaughter has just bought her first "good" computer. It has MSWorks.
But no matter how I tried I could not find out how to enter the date with just two key strokes - or how to get the databases I wanted, to open on selecting the program. I could not find out how to copy the cell contents above the one I was using.
Surely she does not have to do manually what has been automatic for me for years. Any suggestions welcome.
(Probably all my fault - but I have tried - honest).

Nope - this repeats what I do with my version - 4.5

But no mention of what you do with the later and current versions.
I should have a look at this support group though and see if they can solve the mystery.
I do find it hard to believe that MS would deliberately do away with a very useful function (hey I'm talking about MS - they always manage to stuff things up!)

663199 2008-04-28 06:15:00 Hi Tom. I'm sure there will be such a keyboard shortcut. All the other MS programmes such as Access, Excel and Word have them. Scouse (83)

4.5 was the last decent version of works, now its just buggy bloatware.

Yep looks as though you are dead right. I have thought for a long time that v4.5 was the best - it's nice to know I am not the only person who thinks that!

It is odd the way software that is fine gets utterly and completely ruined by later mods.
In the old days we used to wonder what would happen when enough good software had been written - what would the programmers do?
Now we know. They sit down and ruin all the previous good work so eventually we will have to start all over again. Vista anybody?
