| 375477 | 2005-07-26 05:03:00 | Commission says Telecom met service obligations (www.nzherald.co.nz) Telecommunications Commissioner Douglas Webb today advised Communications Minister David Cunliffe that Telecom met all service quality measures in the 2003/2004 year. In September, Mr Webb said there was inadequate information to assess whether Telecom had met the measure for dial up internet connection speeds on residential lines. Since then, Telecom had provided audited information allowing the commission to conclude that requirement had been met. Telecom must ensure 95 per cent of all existing residential lines meet a 14.4 kps (kilobytes per second) connect speed and 99 per cent meet 9.6 kps. What Decade are these guys in ? |

| 375480 | 2005-07-26 05:44:00 | Its a nice reality check when I get thinking that 256kbps down and 128kbps upload is too slow, to see people surviving on what I had 7 years ago... :D | Chilling_Silence (9) | ||
| 375481 | 2005-07-26 08:00:00 | What Decade are these guys in ? One where Fax was the main means of long distance comminication and document trensfer apart from snail mail . Rather than being a reality check Chill, it really beggars belief that government bodoes and their ruling masters still believe this is acceptable . Despite what the regulations say, it's simply, poor, spin to tout these figures . I'd much rather see Telecom has exceeded the service quality measures by X . :annoyed: |

| 375482 | 2005-07-26 08:17:00 | I gave my old rural modem to a friend in Punakiki (West Coast SI) when i first got cable some 4 (?) years ago. as far as i know, armed with this sometimes she connects as high as 14Kbs, possibly to this day. I must send this thread to her... see what she has to say on it, if she can get it to load before getting timeout errors! |
