We love Auckland because .......
You can make over $100,000 per year and still can't afford a house.
You never bother looking at the train timetable because you know the drivers have never seen it either.
You order organic fruit and vegetables online, but eat out every night anyway.
You spend more money on your coffee machine than on your washing machine.
You spend $400+ per week for your room in an apartment with stunning harbour and beach views and European appliances; and spend a total of forty hours a week there, of which thirty-seven are spent sleeping.
You contemplate calling a taxi from your home to where you managed to park your car the night before.
You spend thirty minutes in a traffic jam next to a car that has more power going to its speakers than its wheels.
You know everyone's e-mail and mobile number but not their last name or home address.
You can roll sushi, make pasta and keep your red curry paste recipe under lock and key... but couldn't roast a chicken to save your life.
Your taxi driver was a micro-surgeon before he immigrated to New Zealand
Your co-worker tells you he/she has eight body piercing but none are visible.
You can't remember... is dope illegal?
You've been to more than one baby shower that has two mothers and a sperm donor.
You have a very strong opinion on where your coffee beans are grown, and can taste the difference between Sumatran and Ethiopian.
A really great parking space can move you to tears.
You are thinking of taking an adult class but you can't decide between yoga, conversational Italian or building your own website.
You are genuinely surprised when you meet someone who was actually born in Auckland.
Your hairdresser is straight; your plumber is gay, and your Avon lady is a drag queen

375420 2005-07-26 05:38:00 Here's some I thought of Beetle... believe it or not I was bread and buttered in Auckland, love the place dearly!

Instead of hosting tupperware parties you host 'adult novelty' parties, complete with catered sushi

You tell friends from Sydney that you'd pick them up from the airport, but you'd have to leave home before they did

You think 'outdoor pursuits' means membership at a gym with a sunbed

You know without a doubt that gray is the new black... or is it pink?

You took an offensive driving course that included how to do U turns at traffic lights.

Your mother is dating your ex boyfriend/girlfriend and it seems normal to you

When an acquaintance tells you what suburb they live in you automaticly compute the median house price based on travelling distance+travelling time+ethnic ratio and the number of Indian dairies in the immediate area.

You've never learnt how to 'swing a cat' because there's just not enough room in your apartment.

You keep using your work swipe card in the eftpos machine and wonder why it's always declined.

You know you're part of a neighbourhood watch group, but have never met your neighbours

Your idea of window shopping is getting a good seat outside a cafe in Ponsonby

You laugh at people who think Pilates is a very bad form of haemoroids

You know you've 'made it' when you drive a European car that is uglier than a Stagecoach bus, almost as big, twice as expensive to purchase and harder to park.

By the age of 16 you know the difference between bikini wax, board wax, hair wax and ear wax.

Although you pump petrol for a living you're happy to tell people that you 'work in IT'

You are genuinely surprised when you meet someone who was actually born in Auckland.

375423 2005-07-26 06:06:00 Good stuff!!!

You tell friends from Sydney that you'd pick them up from the airport, but you'd have to leave home before they did I live in South Auckland so this is no biggie :D
