As one gets older, you wish you had of payed attention in your health classes not to mention the english ones,

I read somewhere sinking poo means things are better than when you have floating ones, I just can not remember the reason.

No. Floating faeces indicate a high fibre diet and that is good. Our gastrointestinal tract has evolved over a million years using and needing high fibre. It is only in the past 100 years or so that we have been able to partly abandon fibre because we have a surfeit of dense high energy foods available. Meat and sugar.

We love it but we didn't evolve with such foods readily available in nature. So our GI tract doesn't function very well when we don't give it enough fibre to help it along. You can think of fibre as a potscrub moving along with the rich food, bulking the food out and cleaning as it goes.

Unfortunately I learned this too late. Diverticulitis struck me in my early 40s and my bowel is now 200mm shorter. No fun at all.

I thought floaties were also an indication of too much fat, or that was unable to be processed by the gut for whatever reason. True or false.

Diverticulitis, doens't sound nice Winnie. Lot's of porridge keep it at bay I guess.

Personally, I like my daily dose of muesli, but you've got to be carefull as a good deal of the pre-packaged cerials are chock full of fat, sugar and salt.
