663621 2008-05-14 02:15:00 I'm not - was saying that on behalf of everyone else. I'm with Orcon, and very happy with International speeds. wratterus (105)
663622 2008-05-26 05:00:00 I used to live with my parents 2 years ago (2006) and we had Telecom. 1gb limit as it was new to us. At the time, it was fast, for a newbie to internet. Last year (2007) I moved into a hall of residence in Wellington, and shared Slingshot with 4 other people over a wireless network. We were continuously getting disconnected, atleast 5 times per day, although speeds were better then back home in Rotorua.

This year, I am renting a house close to the CBD in Wellington, and decided to go for Telecom. Free modem, connection, 2 first months free. Wrong.

I got the free modem and connection, but first 2 months free? No. I used my 10gb allowance for the first month i had broadband, (Febuary) and went 3gb over limit. Telecom then charged me for doing that. Can anyone tell me where it says in T&C that using 30% more then your cap data limit, after being capped, cancels all special deals with Telecom? I can't..

And now it's May, and I'm getting fed up with Telecom. I keep getting disconnected every 20 minutes or less, for around 5minutes. I ring and complain, they tell me things I already know, and I get more angry. While writing this, it's disconnected and reconnected twice..

Today I signed up for Xnet, and chose a plan where i get 75gb of off-peak allowance free, and pay $1.53 per gb of data used during peak times 8am - midnight. I also chose the FLS down/128 up plan. If I use 16gb data during peak time, I still pay less then i do for Telecom with only 10gb all up.

What a deal! I dont even care that we have to supply our own modem, and that I have to pay $99 to get off Telecom. Infact I'm happy to pay to get off Telecom. I hate it I hate it I hate it!!!

Cool, I've been delaying signing up as I wanted to see what happened, but it sounds all good now.

Cheers!

663624 2008-05-26 06:12:00 Slingshot has changed quite a bit in the past 6 or so months .

Would you care to elaborate? They have the same plans, and same horrible website they had when I was using them .

When they were having problems with their helpdesk over a year ago, I was told that they had now fixed it, but the problems continued .
