| 663609 | 2008-05-04 09:55:00 | Well at last I've joined everyone with slow download speeds. Within NZ .All Normal Downloads 4000 plus. Uploads 700 plus. Australia. All six cities, Downloads under 450. Uploads all over 450. SCREWY! New York. Download 226. Upload 77' Johanisberg . Couldn't even connect. OK who do I blame? Xnet or Telecom? My money's on Telecom. The buck definately stops with Xnet. Firstly you wouldn't have any direct contract with telecom, if you are signed up to xnet. Secondly, as it is only affecting international traffic, it would show that Xnets network is overloaded when provisioning their international bandwidth between their customers. I suspect there are some very high users on Xnet who are constantly connected with P2P software, downloading from overseas. |

| 663611 | 2008-05-04 20:04:00 | At 5am this morning I tried again New York and Perth. Download at 4200 plus. Upload above 700. In other words, back to normal. Was last nights performance just an anomaly? Or is it going to continue? Are the lines so overloaded at peak times it slows the service so much? It may be Xnets fault, but as I see it, it must expand to all companies given time. What to do ???????? |

| 663613 | 2008-05-07 03:59:00 | im with slingshot, out in the wop wops (brooklands christchurch) www.speedtest.net im probably going OT here but thats my local speed (tested here in NZ) I don't think many people on here recommend slingshot. They are a budget supplier, and I have been with them before, and apart from the terrible support, I was constantly getting disconnected, and the problem was with slingshots systems, not with the line. I have probably been disconnected once or twice with xnet that I have noticed over 7 months, with xnet, on the same line. |

After reading the Geekzone forum at www.geekzone.co.nz it doesn't look like anything has changed yet. Promising though. International speeds are very good at the moment, 4pm today, speedtest.net. New York 6300kb/s London 5580 kb/s Vancouver 4460kb/s |

Also Xnet is giving a new plan for heavy downloaders. $1.50/GB with unlimited nightly (12AM-8AM). Should hopefully lessen the load a bit during peak :) |
