376093 2005-08-01 01:14:00 The TV prog "Top Gear" had a look at a Prius a while back, they were less than convinced, off the top of my head 45mpg?? and a simmilar sized euro diesel could get 75mpg.

Back to kiwi land & the govt has signed up to the kyoto protocol and yet our diesel is some of the worst in the world preventing these clean euro diesels being sold here........ go figure. Still the worn out jap import 4x4s seem to smoke nicely on it.

Hopefully you dont treat other vehicles as kerbs & islands Winston001???
" Kerbs and traffic islands become slightly bumpy pieces of road if one feels the need to u-turn."

As someone who lives near a primary school I am constantly astounded at the amount of women driving these 4x4s thinking they are a safe ride for little Johnny
when they are well known to roll over if you ever need to swerve around something.

376094 2005-08-01 01:59:00 Hi Plod. Perhaps my wording mislead you... see
An interesting lift from here.

I recently traded in a 2000 Toyota 4-Runner to buy a new Prius. It’s great. My gas mileage tripled – over its 1500 miles so far, it has averaged around 50 mpg. The sight-lines take a little getting used to – or maybe it’s just the adjustment after climbing down from an SUV – but it handles well and I’ve had no problem with power. I’m very happy with it and its “super ultra low emissions.”
The comment was lifted from the highlighted word... My pension does not extend to the Prius class vehicle.
